HEALING THE PAST GOD'S WAY: TEACHING NOTES AND WORKSHEETS

Healing the Past God's Way is a book designed for women and men who have been abused, who have been broken by shattered pasts or who are struggling through dificult circumstances and thorny relationships. The book takes Biblical principles and teaches us to apply them to our lives and our hearts as we work through issues of identity, of faith in who God really is and of restoration of relationship both with God and with those around us. The book was first created as a ministry tool for the F.O.C.I.S. (Finding Out that Christ Is Suficient) ministry at Harvest Bible Chapel in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. It has been taught in a classroom for over a decade and it lends itself both to individual study (with application and quiet time material at the end of each chapter) but also to small group studies or ministry applications.

The teaching notes are PDFs for each chapter that can be downloaded and used as supplemental material for anyone who is going to teach the material. The teaching notes are designed to go hand-in-hand with the book and intended to give the leader / teacher a greater grasp of the purpose and aim of each chapter. In addition, should a counselor assign the book to a counselee as homework, the teaching notes can be helpful in outlining a counseling session to reinforce the Biblical principle discussed in any one chapter. The teaching notes are intended to build upon the material in an individual chapter and not intended as a replacement for the chapter.

WORKSHEETS FOR HEALING THE PAST GOD'S WAY:

The worksheets are designed to reinforce the Biblical principle of a chapter as well as teach a spiritual discipline to a small group member, student or counselee. Over the years, I have found it helpful to be able to send an individual home with additional work to do so that he or she can learn to search the Scriptures on their own, spend time alone with God and learn how to live out the process of sanctification to which Jesus has called us on this side of eternity. The worksheets reinforce the Biblical truth of a lesson by taking the individual through a specific spiritual discipline. The spiritual disciplines are explained in the worksheet in a short, concise way, but if you want a more fleshed out exploration of the twelve spiritual disciplines used, you will find that in the e-book, Practicing the Spiritual Disciplines.
